Abstract:
Since Vietnam transitioned to a market economy, many workers have moved from the public sector to the private sector, along with embezzlement and corruption among workers in the public sector, which were increasing. This fact has received significant attention from domestic and international scientists about public service motivation. However, previous studies only considered external factors. Enrich the references: this study explores the relationship between personality traits and public service motivation. This study was conducted through a crosssectional survey using a targeted sampling technique (n=500). The SEM model was used to test the hypotheses. The SEM model demonstrated personality traits that positively and significantly impact public service motivation, including Openness, Extraversion, and neuroticism. Furthermore, they are thoroughly and mainly related to public service motivation; personality traits that are not entirely related and significant to public service motivation include Agreeableness and Conscientiousness.
